- District Happenings Pastor Francois Eugene Jeune honored...
 |
On January 22, 2012, it was Dr. Wood's privilege to honor the founding pastor of the Coney Island Church, Francois Eugene Juene at this time of his retirement. Pastor Juene was a long term pastor in Haiti and founded this congregation twenty-six years ago. They began meeting in a Seventh Day Adventist Church on Sunday mornings and eventually purchased their present building. Pastor Juene is retiring due to medical complications.
There is a significant story associated with this building. It was a medical office where the previous owner performed abortions. At the very spot where the abortion table once sat where the lives of unborn children were taken the pulpit sits where the life giving gospel of Jesus Christ is proclaimed. Dr. Wood states: "Everytime I go there I am reminded of our first visit and the redemption of that building for Christ’s cause."
There were about 50 in the service on Sunday. Pastor Claudel Noisette has been appointed to serve as the Supply Pastor of the church at this time. |
Back to School Event - Brooklyn World Impact
|
World Impact International Ministries (Brooklyn) had its second Back-to-School evangelism drive on Sunday, August 7, 2011. There were over one thousand (1,000) persons in attendance, six hundred and twenty persons attended the church service, and fifty-one persons surrendered their lives to Christ. There were a number of fun activities for the children and 700 school bags were distributed. There was also a Youth Ministry booth which was setup for registration in anticipation of the launch of our Youth Ministry in September. It was certainly a great day for WIIM and the two mission teams from Kentwood Community Church and Monticello Wesleyan Church. Please keep us in your prayers as we seek to encourage the families to continue to attend our worship services. Pastor Clinton Glasgow

Local Pastor takes a mission trip to Honduras
|
Ed Torres (pastor at Faith Chapel in Clinton, NJ) reported the following:
Brianna and I returned safely from Honduras. Here are some pictures of me preaching in a clinic and also working with our US Dentist at a regular clinic and at a clinic at the jail in San Pedro Sula.
We saw 5175 patients in our 2 weeks stay giving medicine, extracting teeth, giving bibles, clothes and hope. I pulled three teeth and assisted in removing a very large "sist" from a patient's arm!
I got to preach the Word of God every day and we saw many come to Christ hearing the Word of God through Paul's message in Romans 10. The unfortunate thing is that we did not have people in Honduras ready to visit those who wanted to hear more about Christ because we changed our plans from El Salvador to Honduras in a month's time and were working with another organization. I know that both we and the people that heard the word of God were blessed!

God again reminded me how powerful prayer is as we were in some difficult situations. We had a devotion on James 1 on our first day..."Count it a joy, Brethren, when faced with trials." We were very joyous on a daily basis as God helped us to grow in faith and trust through some difficult times. I needed His strength to finally allow my daughter to go with us to the jail and serve the people in the jail. Our Hotel manager asked us to pay the Hotel bill before we went to the jail after he heard we were having a clinic in the jail. He said it was too dangerous and that they would hurt us. After prayer, God gave both my daughter and I a peace about her going and He provided an army that protected us in the general population without guards around us. We did have guards when we visited the "dangerous" inmates but I had the best conversations about God with those put away for a very long time.

World Impact International Ministries hosts "Back to School" Community Outreach Sunday
|
World Impact International Ministries (Brooklyn) hosted its “Back to School” Community Outreach on Sunday 15th with an attendance of two hundred and twenty-nine (229) in the worship service, nine of them making decisions to live for Jesus Christ. Throughout the day, five hundred (500) persons were in attendance, with three hundred and sixty-five (365) children received back packs and school supplies.
There were lots of games and other activities, such as face painting, bouncy-rides, hula-hoops etc. for which prizes were awarded. Several agencies including chiropractic, acupuncture and fingerprinting conducted by the NYC Hospital Police, were also present to give free medical and social advice. The spirit of godly fellowship, free food, and the many giveaways kept the children and parents very much occupied throughout the day. It was certainly a wonderful time of evangelism for the WIIM congregation.
The follow-up plan is very much in place to encourage the un-churched to attend worship services.
